How to Decorate a Room for Newborn
Plan in Advance
Complete all the repairing works minimum a couple months before the day baby arrives. Moreover, make sure to ventilate a nursery a few days before baby arrives home. This way you will avoid baby inhaling of harmful fumes from paint and wallpaper glue.
Before starting a kid’s nursery reconstruction, it is essential to decide on the way you want to locate different items: for instance, a crib should be placed away from window in order to avoid direct sunrays in the morning and streetlight in the night. Besides, there should be any electrical sockets around it. Most of the times kids’ garments, toys and other items occupy more space than you initially planned, so assign more storing space when designing kids’ nursery.
Make sure to supply a nursery with a seating place like a rocking chair, window seat or armchair for breastfeeding, reading and simply snoozing with a kid in your arms.
Lighting
Make sure to install a dimmer switch in order not to wake up your baby with bright light for night feeding. It wouldn’t be an extra setting up table lamps. As for window treatments, opt for curtains made from thick material or install blinds.
Flooring
Instead of the carpet that completely covers floor, opt for natural flooring with smooth surface like wood or cork covered with small rugs since they could be cleaned at ease and don’t accumulate as much dust as wonder carpet. Think of attaching rug to the floor using a two-sided tape. This way you will ensure yourself from slipping while holding a baby.
Safety
When choosing furniture for kid’s nursery, pay attention to sharp corners, sticking out cords, etc. It is better adhering furniture to walls so that it doesn’t fall.
Decorating
When it comes to paining, consider going for neutral and pastel shades for walls and ceiling. There is a myriad of colors to choose from starting from classic pink and blue to beautiful purple, beige, green, yellow, etc. Moreover, consider introducing bold patterns like polka dots, stripes, florals, etc.
Furniture
Furniture is the biggest expense article when creating a baby nursery, so it is better opting for furniture in classic style that won’t look outdated in a couple of years.
